Is Quality of Transcription Service good in India

Sometimes we receive voice files with music playing in the background, it can vary anywhere from a heavy “Led Zeppellin” – Rock-n-Roll to a soft and heartwarming “Dido”.

Its not that our transcribers are complaining, they enjoy the music as well, but only after filtering it with software that helps in reducing the background noise.  They transcribe the files and the quality of transcription is 98-99% accurate, and surely you can call it quality transcription.  The quality controller and the editor take care of the remaining accuracy.

Background music, noise, disturbance, traffic honking, you name it, still is a distraction when it comes to concentrating and catching up on every word and transcribing it.  Certainly this type of file is not everybody’s cup of tea.

For example in our company, there is this one peculiar transcriber who can transcribe the background conversation leaving out the main dictation, which is not an easy task at all.  The minute we discovered his talent, we put him on general transcription where there are a lot of group discussions to be transcribed, he turned out to be the best.

In India we certainly keep the quality of transcription high and that’s the reason why medical transcription companies in India are most sought after.

Difference between Psychology and Psychiatry Transcription.

Psychology Transcription:  A clinical psychologist with Psy.D degree dictates Psychology reports.  Psychology reports deal with a lot of counseling over behavioral problems and issues like stress, insomnia, disinterest and hopelessness in life.  These reports will also vary anywhere from alcohol abuse, physical abuse, sexual abuse to mental illness caused due to HIV & AIDS.  Sometimes there might also be group discussions to be transcribed from psychology clinicians.  There will be little or no medication or medical terms dictated in psychology reports.

Psychiatry Transcription:  Psychiatry reports are dictated by psychiatrists with M.D. degree.  A psychiatry report deals with mental illnesses like depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, autism, obsessive- compulsive disorder, panic disorder, impulse control disorder, mood swing disorder, seizure disorder, to name a few, the list goes on.  A thorough analysis of patients psychiatric condition is made on initial visits with the help of past and present medical and social history, which in turn helps in concluding with diagnostic impression and treatment plan.  Psychiatry treatment goes hand-in-hand with psychotherapy and medication.  There will be a lot of medicines dictated in psychiatry reports.  Psychiatry transcription will also have detailed reports dictated by doctors who give their opinion as expert witnesses.

An average medical transcriptionist cannot do psychiatry transcription.  Psychiatry transcription needs in depth knowledge of psychiatric terminology, as it has some complex vocabulary.  There are some companies who have a dedicated team to handle psychiatry reports.  When choosing a transcription company for psychiatry transcription one needs to check on the pricing they quote, there are many companies who charge a ridiculous price, which can be devilishly difficult to accept.  At the same time, needless to say, there are a few good companies who charge a modest price for psychiatry transcription.

Should I send dictation to India?

It was a lazy Sunday morning and my blackberry beeped, there was a forwarded mail from one of my clients, where his colleague had asked him the below question....

Should I send dictation to India?       ... which he wanted me to answer.

Medical Transcription India - Pilottech

I dilly-dallied out of bed, helped myself to a cup of coffee, and on sipping the hot black coffee, I remembered I had booked two tickets to a movie.  The clock talked loud, and before I could realize I was in the theater munching popcorn and gulping coke.  The bberry beep reminded me of the pending email that I had to reply.  Though it was Sunday, with this ringing thought in mind, I was really not comfortable sitting and watching a movie, so I came home wrote an elaborate letter to the doctor addressing his question “should I send dictation to India”? and sent the email with a cc to my client.

Well, I received an email in the late evening hours of Monday, stating that he was interested and wanted to try out our service.  We let him gladly run a three-day dictation service for free, after which he was completely satisfied and now he is one of our best clients.
